Windansea Beach
These are photos taken in and around Windansea Beach, located in La Jolla, CA, where Madison Kelly lives. Named for a hotel built in 1919 that has long since burned down, the short stretch of beach boasts a palm covered shack built in 1946 as its landmark. It has been home to the Windansea Surf Club since 1962, and is famous among surfers for its south facing surf break and waves that can reach twelve feet during a south swell; novices need not apply. The books are set amongst the surf culture and coffee houses of La Jolla and Windansea Beach.
